Jun. 25, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China saw its output of natural gas increase 5.1% YoY but fall 1.4% MoM to 8.4 billion cubic meters in May this year, said the National Development and Reform Commission
in a statement published on its website.
In the first five months, the country produced 45.7 billion cu m of natural gas, 7.3% more than that in the same period of last year.
In May, China's natural gas imports surged 28.8% YoY to 3.3 billion cu m, taking its total import in the first five months to 16.3 billion cu m, 42.8% more than that in the corresponding period of last year and accounting for 26.59% of the country's total consumption.
The apparent consumption of natural gas amounted to 61.3 billion cu m from January to May, up 15.9% YoY. It rose 12.9% YoY to 11.3 cu m in May.
