's seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 3.2% during the period from March to May 2012 from 3.3% in the February-April period, according to the latest workforce statistics released by the special administrative region's Census and Statistics Department.
The underemployment rate fell to 1.4% during March-May period from 1.5% during the period from February to April.
The department said that declines in the unemployment rate were mainly in the warehousing and support activities for transportation, foundation and superstructure, and retail sectors. As for the underemployment rate, drops were mainly seen in the construction and education sectors.
Total employment increased by around 13,300 to a record 3.66 million during the period from March to May, and total labor force increased by about 11,800 to 3.78 million in the period.
The number of unemployment fell around 1,300 to 123,400 over the same period.
