Jun. 12, 2012 (China Knowledge) – Daimler AG's luxury car unit Mercedes-Benz announced that it sold a total of 87,970 vehicles in China in the first five month of this year, reflecting a YoY increase of 13%.
In May 2012, the automaker sold 17,380 vehicles in China including the models of Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Maybach and AMG, up 2.5% YoY.
From January to May, the sales of its Mercedes-Benz SLK model amounted to 2,160 vehicles, skyrocketed 238% than a year earlier, and the sales of Mercedes-Benz CLS model and Smart model surged 42% and 74% YoY to 2,630 and 7,550 vehicles, respectively.
It is believed that Mercedes-Benz will further its sales with the introduction of new models in the second half of this year, said Klaus Maier, CEO of Mercedes-Benz China.
