Mazda China sales drop 16% in May

Jun. 5, 2012 (China Knowledge) – Mazda Motor Corp announced that its auto sales in China decreased 16% YoY last month to 15,653 units.

In the first five months period of this year, the company's auto sales totaled 87,853 units in China market, reflecting a Y-o-Y increase of 2%.

Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co, Ford Motor's passenger vehicle joint venture in China, sold 36,418 Mazda-branded vehicles during the five-month period, reflecting an increase of 21%YoY.

However, FAW Mazda Motor Sales Co Ltd, a joint venture between FAW Group and Mazda Motor, sold 51,435 vehicles in China, down9% from a year earlier.

As of the end of May, the Japanese automaker has 378 4S stores in China and it aims to enlarge the number to 420 stores by the end of 2012.
