Uygur Autonomous Region saw its raw coal output reach 36.83 million tons in the first four months of this year, reflecting a YoY increase of 30.4% or 8.59 million tons, according to statistics.
Of the total output, 14.29 million tons were produced from major state-owned collieries, increasing 17.4% from a year earlier and accounting for 36.5% of the total.
In the four-month period, Xinjiang
's coal sales surged 30% or 9.18 million tons YoY to 39.82 million tons, of which 14.54 million tons or 36.5% were sold by major state-owned coal companies in the region, up 17.4% YoY.
The region had 11.59 million tons of coal as of Apr. 30, 2012, 15.9% or 2.19 million tons less than that at the beginning of this year.
Last year, Xinjiang
produced 120 million tons of raw coal, 20.2% more than that of 2010, sources reported.
