May. 25, 2012 (China Knowledge) - BMW AG, the world's largest premium car maker, yesterday officially put into operation a new plant in Shenyang
Province so as to further expand in the world's biggest auto market, sources reported.
The new plant, BMW's second in China and 25th in the world, covers a land area of 2 square kilometers and now has a production capacity of 100,000 units per year. The plant will see its capacity rise to 200,000 units at the end of 2013.
BMW has another factory in the Dadong District of Shenyang
In the first four months of this year, BMW saw its China sales surge 35% year on year to 107,211 units despite a slowing Chinese auto market. The figure included 100,300 BMW vehicles, 35% more than in the same period of 2011.
