's unemployment rate decreased 0.07 percentage points in April to 4.10% from the 4.17% recorded in March, according to statistics released by the island's Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics.
The figure in April reflected a M-o-M decline for the second consecutive month and was the lowest level since August 2008.
The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 4.19% last month, up 0.05 percentage points from 4.14% in April.
The number of unemployed people dropped by 7,000 from a month earlier to 463,000 in April, while that of employed people increased by 12,000 from a month earlier to 10.82 million last month.
The net increase of employed people in April was less than the 19,000 recorded in April 2011 and 30,000 in April 2010, due to slowing production sector.
In the first four months of this year, the island's unemployment rate was 4.18% on average, down 0.35 percentage points from the corresponding period of last year.
