Chery expects 200,000 auto exports this year

May. 9, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Chery Automobile Co Ltd, the largest private automaker in China, may see its auto exports to reach 200,000 units in 2012.

Spokesman Jin Yibo said that the Anhui Province-based automaker will try to export at least 170,000 vehicles this year.

In April, the company's global sales rose 39.1% month on month or 40.1% year on year to a record 17,412 units.

Jin added that the company's auto exports are expected to exceed 20,000 units this month.

In 2011, Chery's auto exports hit a record 160,200 units.

Chery and Jaguar Land Rover, a unit of Tata Motors of India, announced in March that they have reached an agreement to establish a 50:50 joint venture in China for luxury cars.
