Province saw its gross domestic product grow 13.1% year on year to RMB 494.33 billion in the first quarter of this year, according to the latest statistics released by the Sichuan
The growth rate was 5.0 percentage points higher than the national average of 8.1%.
Value-added output in the primary industry rose 3.9% year on year to RMB 49.04 billion, and that in the secondary sector grew 17.1% year on year to RMB 280.62 billion. The tertiary sector generated RMB 164.67 billion, 9.1% more than in the same period of 2011.
The province's value-added industrial output rose 17.8% year on year in the first quarter, and the growth rate was 6.2 percentage points higher than the national average.
Retail sales in the province rose 16.7% year on year to RMB 209.26 billion. The province's foreign trade grew 19.1% year on year to US$10.58 billion. Consumer price index increased 3.1% year on year in the period.
