, has announced that it recorded a loss of NT$940.3 million in the fourth quarter of this year, after suffering a loss of NT$379.1 million in the same period of 2011.
The widened loss was in part because of higher operating costs, which rose 4.4% year on year to NT$30.86 billion in the period, and to lower exchange gains.
The company/s revenue climbed 1.8% year on year to NT$30.88 billion in the first three months.
EVA Airways co, the island's second-largest airlines, said earlier that it swung to a loss of NT$1.08 billion, in the first quarter, duo to an increase in operating costs. The company booked a net profit of NT$269.3 million in the first quarter of 2011.
