Apr. 24, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Honda Motor Co, a major Japanese car maker, plans to double its China sales to approximately 1.2 million vehicles by 2015 via output expansion, sources reported.
As part of the plans, the auto manufacturer said it will build its third China assembly line with Guangzhou
Automobile Group Co Ltd<2238> to add an annual output capacity of 120,000 vehicles, which is expected to increase to 240,000 units eventually.
The new facility, located in Zengcheng, Guangdong
Province, would be put into operation iby 2014, said a person familiar with the matter, adding that an engine plant would also be set up by the two partners.
Honda's auto output capacity is expected to increase from current 770,000 units to 1.01 million units per year via several expansion plans.
In addition, the Japanese automaker has unveiled the Concept C and Concept S in China, which will be produced and sold next year with Chinese partner Dongfeng Motor Group, the parent co of Dongfeng Automobile Co Ltd<600006
