Apr. 23, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China saw its output of natural gas increase 7.3% year on year to 28.8 billion cubic meters in the first quarter of this year, said the National Development and Reform Commission
in a statement published on its website.
China's natural gas imports soared 65.5% year on year to 9.7 billion cu m in the fist three months.
The apparent consumption of natural gas amounted to 39 billion cu m in the period, up 19.7% year on year.
In 2011, China produced 102.53 billion cu m of natural gas, 6.90 % more than in the previous year. The top three natural gas-producing regions were Shaanxi
Province and the Xinjiang
Uygur Autonomous Region, whose output accounted for 26.55%, 26.12% and 22.83% of the country's total, respectively.
