Datang Int'l Power's electricity output up 4.83% in Q1

Apr. 17, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Datang International Power Generation Co<601991><0991>, China's second-largest publicly-traded power supplier, said yesterday that its electricity output rose 4.83% year on year to 48.26 terawatt hours (TWh) in the first quarter of this year.

The power producer attributed the increase in electricity output to an expanded power capacity and rising domestic demand.

In the first quarter, the company's electricity sales grew 4.93% year on year to 45.51 TWhs.

Datang International Power said earlier that its net profit fell 22.78% year on year to RMB 1.91 billion last year. Operating revenue rose 19.30% year on year to RMB 72.38 billion, due to increases in both on-grid electricity price and sales volume, according to an earlier report from China Knowledge.
