In the first quarter, the group's auto sales reached 1.14 million units, 8.14% more than in the same period of 2011.Shanghai
Volkswagen Automotive Co Ltd, a 50-50 joint venture set up with Volkswagen AG, sold 106,678 cars in March, up 13.77% year on year. The JV's total sales amounted to 319,900 units in the first quarter, up 11.54% year on year.

General Motors Co Ltd, which the SAIC Motor established with General Motors, sold 113,047 cars last month, increasing 11.29% from the same month of last year. Shanghai
GM delivered a total of 347,100 vehicles in the first quarter, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 10.67%.
SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Co, which mainly produces its in-house brand vehicles, saw its auto sales reach 16,030 units in March, up 14.89% year on year. The subsidiary's sales totaled 39,635 units in the first three months, down 12.46% year on year.
SAIC Motor said that its auto output rose 15.49% year on year to 414,700 units last month, taking its output in the first quarter to a total of 1.13 million units.
