Apr. 10, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Large and medium-sized textile enterprises in China saw their sales value rise 13.2% year on year to RMB 729.7 billion in the first two months of this year, according to figures released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology
The industry's value-added output grew 12.6% year on year during the period.
The output of yarn rose 12.5% year on year to 4.44 million metric tons in the first two months, while that of cloth increased 15.3% year on year to 9 billion meters. The industry produced 3.8 billion pieces of garment, down 8.5% year on year, and produced 5.72 million metric tons chemical fiber, reflecting a growth of 15.3% year on year.
The industry experienced decline in exports and saw slower growth in domestic sales in the first two months. The country's exports of textile products and garments fell 2.6% year on year to US$31.2 billion during the period.
Large and medium-sized textile enterprises reaped a gross profit of RMB 33.4 billion in the first two months, 2.3% less than that in the corresponding period of last year, and their core business revenue rose 19.6% year on year to RMB 726.2 billion.
