Lodging Group Ltd<HTHT>, a leading economic hotel chain operator in the country, opened 36 new hotels in the first quarter of this year, bringing its total hotel volume to 675 as of Mar. 31, 2012.
Of the total, 353 are leased-and-operated hotels and 322 are franchised-and-managed hotels, which are scattered in 111 cities in China
The firm's hotel room number had totaled 75,622 by the end of last month, comprising 42,057 rooms in leased-and-operated hotels and 33,565 rooms in franchised-and-managed hotels.
In the three months ended Mar. 31, 2012, the U.S.-listed company's hotel occupancy rate was 91%. The occupancy rate amounted to 90% in leased-and-operated hotels and 92% in franchised-and-managed hotels.
The firm's revenue per available room or RevPAR increased by 9% from RMB 143 in the first quarter of 2011 to RMB 156 in the same period of this year, partly boosted by strong demand in China
's travel market, sources reported.
