Mar. 21, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China's cement output grew only 4.8% year on year in the first two months of this year, slowing from a 9.1% increase in the same period of 2011, according to the latest statistics released by the National Development and Reform Commission.
China's flat glass output rose 0.7% year on year to 116.74 million weight boxes in the period. The growth rate was 17.7 percentage points lower than that in the corresponding period of 2011.
The price of cement and flat glass continued to fall in February. The average ex-factory price at major cement enterprises dropped RMB 31 per metric ton from December but rose RMB 5.5 per metric ton from a year earlier to RMB 376.5 per metric ton. The price of flat glass fell RMB 17.9 per weight box year on year to RMB 60.3 per weight box in last month.
In 2011, China's cement output increased 16.12% from 2010 to 2.06 billion metric tons. Shandong Province topped rankings among all provincial-level regions with cement output of 150 million metric tons, followed by Jiangsu Province, Sichuan Province and Hebei Province.
