World-class E-industrial park emerge in China

Mar. 19, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Many industrial parks across China are constructing and appending new facilities and buildings to accommodate stream of companies of the new economy. This is, naturally, in tandem with global trend in engaging new technological advances to improve operation and efficiency and the changing landscape of Chinese consumerism. Today, China has the largest internet users at half billion, and electronic commerce and social media services have integrated as an important part of the economy.

One such successful development that stands out is Tianjin TEDA, a triple-A rated industrial park that top on the league table, and ranked first by Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China for 14 consecutive years. Almost all internet activities that involve an online purchase, cloud computing, video streaming and social media chatline could be processed in Tianjin TEDA’s new broadband digital network and data center. This is the goal that the Tianjin TEDA’s leaders set to become the new decade’s technological advance hub in China.

Being one of the most developed industrial parks that attracted the world’s best and largest manufacturers, Tianjin TEDA has also committed USD 360 million in development funds and venture capital, and equipped with world-class cloud computing facilities. Not long, U.S-based IDG and Lightspeed Venture Partners injected initial USD 11 million of capital, and increasing to USD 35 million to become a prominent IT investor in the municipality. Microsoft, Aliababa and many global IT companies are also seeking to invest into associate facilities that the TEDA are initiating. Combined, these factors could accelerate the growth of internet enterprises within the new E-TEDA as a dynamic IT powerhouse on world stage.

Today, it has clusters of most-advance IT sectors that include cloud-computing, data storage, software development and animation. The backing of such development results from USD 20 billion of electronic industry output a year with double digits growth annually. These are many long years of arduous hard work from the TEDA’s management pitching to the MNCs in the electronic and communication industry across the globe to set up their manufacturing facilities there.

The country’s top internet companies have invested massively in taking the advantage of E-TEDA. Such recent projects built include Sohu Video Headquarters, Tencent Tianjin R&D and Data Storage Center, Alibaba’s Taobao Mall and together with some 150 large & medium size IT and internet companies.

In no time, E-TEDA will be a showcase to other industrial development areas – be it within or outside China.
