Mar. 16, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China's gold output increased by 0.86 metric tons or 3.68% year on year to 24.13 metric tons in January this year, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology
Gold mines in the country produced 19.73 metric tons of gold in January, 2.27% more than that in the same period of last year, while colored-by-product gold from nonferrous smelters increased by 10.51% year on year to 4.40 metric tons.
During the same period, China's top ten gold producers, including China National Gold Group Corp, Zijin Mining Group Co Ltd<601899
> and Shandong
Gold Group, saw their combined output of gold products rise 1.27% from the same period of last year to 13.65 metric tons, accounting for 56.58% of the country's total.
The gross output value of the gold industry jumped 35.60% year on year to RMB 18.93 billion in the month, and the sector's profit surged 36.18% to RMB 1.93 billion.
