>, the country's largest telecom operator, yesterday reported a net profit of RMB 125.87 billion for last year, reflecting a growth of 5.2% year on year, boosted by steady growth in users and an increase in wireless data traffic and services.
The profit growth last year was higher than the 3.9% increase in 2010, but was still lower than 30% surge in 2008.
The mobile telecom carrier saw its revenue grow 8.8% year on year to RMB 528.0 billion in 2011. The company's average revenue per user (ARPU), a key barometer to determine the long-term growth rate of telecom firms, dropped to RMB 71 per month last year from RMB 73 in 2010.
The company saw its net addition of mobile uses reach 65.55 million last year, more than the 61.7-million addition in 2010. As of the end of last year, the firm's total subscribers had increased to 650 million.
The telecom operator proposed a final dividend of HK$1.747 per share, taking its total dividend for the year to HK$3.327 per share.
This year, China Mobile plans to raise its capital expenditure to RMB 131.9 billion, of which about 41% is for network infrastructure.
