Mar. 15, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Chinese telecom operators saw their revenue from core business grow 12.2% year on year to RMB 81.63 billion in January this year, according to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology
The industry's total business volume was RMB 101.91 billion during the period, up 17.1% year on year, said the ministry.
Revenue from mobile telecom business increased 18.2% year on year to RMB 58.87 billion in January, accounting for 72.12% of the total core business revenue. The ratio was 68.41% in the same period of 2011.
Income from fixed-line telecom business fell 1.0% from a year earlier to RMB 22.76 billion, accounting for 27.88% of the total core business revenue, compared with a ratio of 31.59% in the corresponding period of 2011.
The telecom industry saw its core business revenue increase 10.5% in East China, 15.2% in Central China and 16.8% in West China, respectively.
The top five provinces that booked the highest telecom business revenue were Guangdong
Province and Sichuan
Province, in which their revenues were RMB 12 billion, RMB 6.9 billion, RMB 6.1 billion, RMB 5.1 billion and RMB 4.3 billion respectively in January.
