, saw its passenger throughput surge 13.91% year on year to 3.75 million in January.
Of the total passenger throughput, 1.94 million was from the domestic market, up 13.89% from a year earlier. Passenger throughput in the international market grew 10.73% year on year to 1.33 million.
Last month, the two airports' cargo and mail throughput totaled 199,900 tons, reflecting a year-on-year decline of 22.37%. The cargo and mail throughput for domestic business plunged 27.69% from a year earlier to 23,500 tons, while for overseas business reached 150,400 tons, down 19.83% year on year.
In the period from Jan. 8 to Feb. 16, the travel season of Spring Festival peak in China, the two airports saw total passenger throughput reach 8.14 million, comprising 3.38 million in Hongqiao International Airport and 4.75 million in Pudong International Airport, up 6.6% from a year earlier, according to the website of Shanghai
