Feb. 17, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Acer Inc, a global leading PC maker based in Taiwan
, earned NT$75 million or US$2.54 million in net profit in the fourth quarter of last year, compared with a net loss of NT$3.9 billion in the same quarter of 2010 or NT$1.1 billion in third quarter of 2011.
The profit for the fourth quarter 2011, however, was much less than a forecast of NT$202.24 million from 16 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters.
For the three months ended Dec. 31, 2011, Acer posted NT$127.7 billion-consolidated revenue, reflecting a sequential increase of 8.3%.
In the whole year of 2011, the Taiwanese company suffered a net loss of NT$6.6 billion, compared with a net profit of NT$15.1 billion in 2010. Acer's consolidated revenue for last year plunged 24.4% year on year to NT$475.5 billion.
Acer also expects it overall shipments in 2012 would be about the same level as 2011 at around 2 million to 2.5 million units, sources reported.
