, has said Cathay Pacific and Dragonair carried a total of 2.51 million passengers in January 2012, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 11.9%.
Passenger load factor for last month reached 81.9%, 0.6% higher than that in January 2011. Capacity for last month, measured in available seat kilometers or ASKs, increased by 8.7%.
The two airlines' cargo and mail throughput for January 2012 totaled 116,250 metric tons, down 19.5% from a year earlier. Cargo and mail load factor amounted to 59.9%, 7.9% lower than that in the same month of last year. Capacity, measured in available cargo and mail tone km, declined by 6.7%.
James Woodrow, General Manager of Cathay Pacific Cargo Sales & Marketing, said the company saw a weak demand, especially in cargo and mail sector, last month due to Chinese New Year holiday as most of the plants closed production.
