Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc, the world's largest semiconductor assembly and testing company, has posted NT$2.64 billion-net profit for the fourth quarter of 2011, reflecting a year-on-year plunge of 46% from NT$4.87 billion.
Net revenue for the quarter totaled NT$46.39 billion, down 13% year on year from NT$53.28 billion.
For the whole year of 2011, the company reaped NT$13.73 billion in net profit, compared with a net profit of NT$18.34 billion in 2010. Diluted earnings per share for last year were NT$2.03.
Net revenue amounted to NT$185.35 billion in 2011, representing a year-on-year decline of 2%. Gross margin decreased to 18.9% in 2011 from 21.5% in 2010.
As of Dec. 31, 2011, Advanced Semiconductor Engineering had NT$25.27 billion in cash and current financial assets, whereas it had NT$33.18 billion as of Sep. 30, 2011.
The semiconductor supplier had NT$76.53 billion in bank loans at the end of last year, compared with NT$85.9 billion as of Sep. 30, 2011, sources reported.
