GM China sales down 8% in Jan

eb. 8, 2012 (China Knowledge) - U.S.-based auto giant General Motors Corp and its China joint ventures sold a total of 246,654 vehicles in January this year, representing a year-on-year decline of 8%, said the automaker in a statement.

The sales in January 2012 reflected a month-on-month increase of 25.3%.
 
Shanghai General Motors Co Ltd, the joint venture between GM and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp, sold 124,073 cars last month, including 71,056 Buick vehicles. No comparable figures were given in the statement.
 
GM's three-way joint venture SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co Ltd saw its sales of mini-vans and passenger cars reach 119, 948 units last month.

FAW-GM, the joint venture between GM and FAW Group, delivered 2,433 vehicles in January this year.

In 2011, GM's China sales grew 8.3% year on year to 2.55 million units.
