Beijing E-Town attracts RMB 10.7-bln of investments

Feb. 1, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Beijing E-Town, a triple-A rated industrial park in China, on Monday signed 23 projects with investment amount to RMB 10.7 billion, according to its sources.

Meanwhile, Beijing E-Town witnessed the launch of an auto parts industrial park constructed by Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd, a joint venture established by Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Company and German auto giant Daimler AG, in the development area.

The 23 projects, involving strategic industries like auto manufacturing, biopharmaceutical and cultural creativity. Among these, 19 projects are to be settled in Beijing Benz auto parts industrial park with a total investment of RMB 4.9 billion. These investments, which are expected to consolidate Beijing Benz's auto industry supply chain, include world's top 500 company ZF Group, China Capital Logistics Co's logistics project that will provide Beijing Benz with integrated supply chain solutions, Valeo's automobile air conditioner, Johnson Controls, BAIC Lear and Magna.

By 2015, the gross output of the Beijing Benz auto industry supply chain is expected to hit RMB 50 billion, which will lay a solid foundation for E-Town to form a RMB 100-billion auto industry cluster and greatly boost the development of Beijing's auto industry. In July 2011, Beijing Benz, the auto manufacturing industry leader in the development area, kicked off construction of Mercedes-Benz's first overseas engineering plant there.
 
In addition, Sichuan Kechuang Medicine Group and China Shineway Pharmaceutical Group will form part of E-Town's biopharmaceutical incubation base with a total investment of RMB 1.6 billion.

Furthermore, Beijing E-Town has signed to build a tourism resort and a sports industry park in the development area.

After the integration of Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area with Daxing District, the new E-Town will become a cluster for high-tech manufacturing industries and emerging strategic industries.

So far, the area has attracted more than 4,500 enterprises from over 30 countries, including 75 of the world's top 500 companies with 106 projects settled in the area.

Beijing E-Town, with auto manufacturing, biopharmaceutical, equipment manufacturing and electronics and information technology will consolidate its four pillar industries. The area has developed telecommunication industry cluster led by Nokia, a display monitor industry cluster led by BOE Technology Group Co Ltd<000725><200725>, an integrated circuit industry cluster led by Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp<0981>, a medical equipment industry cluster led by General Electric, a biopharmaceutical industry cluster led by Bayer, a cloud computing industry cluster led by Ruiyun Cloud Computing R&D and the auto industry cluster led by Beijing Benz.
 
With such these industry development set in place Beijing E-Town that include remote villages in the Daxing District will transform into the most technologically advance area in the southern part of Beijing.
