Beiqi Foton leads China's truck sales in 2011: CAAM

Jan. 31, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Beiqi Foton Motor Co Ltd<600166>, China's largest commercial vehicle producer in China, sold a total of 605,800 trucks, including trailers, in China last year, ranking first in the top ten automaker list released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers or CAAM.

Dongfeng Automobile Co Ltd<600006> ranked second with sales of 603,500 trucks, followed by Faw Car Co Ltd<000800> with 274,800 units, Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co Ltd with 244,000 units, Shenyang Jinbei Automotive Co Ltd with 183,100 units, Sinotruck Group with 158,700 units, Chongqing Changan Automobile Co Ltd<000625><200625> with 134,900 units, Jiangling Motors Corp Ltd<000550><200550> with 127,000 units, Great Wall Motor Co Ltd<2333> with 121,700 units and Shaanxi Automobile Group Co Ltd with 107,600 units.

The combined truck sales of the ten automakers amounted to 2.56 million units last year, accounting for 72% of the total truck sales in China.

Brilliance Jinbei Automobile Co Ltd, a joint venture between Brilliance China Automotive Holding Ltd<1114> and Shenyang Jinbei Automotive, topped China's bus sales in 2011 with 89,500 buses that were sold, followed by Jiangling Motors with 56,800 buses and Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co Ltd<600066> with 46,700 buses, according to a separate report from CAAM.
