Province rose 15.9% year on year to US$539.76 billion last year, said the Jiangsu
Statistics Bureau in an online statement.
The province's exports reached US$312.62 billion in 2011, 15.6% more than in the preceding year, and its imports grew 16.3% year on year to US$227.14 billion.Jiangsu
saw a trade surplus of US$85.49 billion last year, reflecting an increase of 13.8% year on year.
In the month of December, the province's foreign trade rose 5.4% month on month or 11.1% year on year to US$49.09 billion. Export value experienced a faster growth of 9.8% year on year, reaching US$27.77 billion, and import value increased 12.4% to US$21.32 billion.
