China's tourism revenue up 23.6% during Jan. 22 - Jan. 28

Jan. 31, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China's tourism revenue surged 23.6% year on year to RMB 101.4 billion during the Spring Festival that lasted from January 22 to January 28, according to official statistics, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

The revenue included both RMB 5.5 billion earned by air carriers and RMB 3.05 billion by the railway system.

Scenic spots around China received a total of 176 million tourists during the seven-day holiday, 14.9% more than in the corresponding period of 2011. The figure included 41.8 million overnight visitors.

The 39 major tourism cities in China, including Beijing, Tianjin, Sanya and Chengdu, received 66.59 million visitors, of which 11.54 million were overnight tourists, and reaped RMB 38.38 billion in tourism revenue.
