Guangdong's retail sales exceeds RMB 2 trln in 2011

Jan. 30, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Total retail sales in South China's Guangdong Province rose 16.3% year on year to RMB 2.02 trillion in 2011, according to the latest statistics released by the Guangdong Statistics Bureau.

In the month of December, the province's retail sales increased 16.4% year on year to RMB 184.60 billion.

The province saw retail sales in urban areas grow 16.4% year on year to RMB 1.73 trillion and retail sales in rural areas increase 15.4% to RMB 289.78 billion.
Retail sales in Pearl River Delta amounted to RMB 1.46 trillion last year, 15.7% more than in 2010.

The province saw a 44.4% surge in the retail sales of cultural and office supplies, 35.6% surge in gold, silver and jewelry, 33.9% increase in telecom equipment and 31.6% increase in oil and related products.
