Province rose 16.3% year on year to RMB 2.02 trillion in 2011, according to the latest statistics released by the Guangdong
In the month of December, the province's retail sales increased 16.4% year on year to RMB 184.60 billion.
The province saw retail sales in urban areas grow 16.4% year on year to RMB 1.73 trillion and retail sales in rural areas increase 15.4% to RMB 289.78 billion.
Retail sales in Pearl River Delta amounted to RMB 1.46 trillion last year, 15.7% more than in 2010.
The province saw a 44.4% surge in the retail sales of cultural and office supplies, 35.6% surge in gold, silver and jewelry, 33.9% increase in telecom equipment and 31.6% increase in oil and related products.
