Jan. 25, 2012 (China Knowledge) - The combined output of the ten nonferrous metals was 34.24 million metric tons last year, up 10.6% year on year, according to the latest statistics released by the National Development and Reform Commission
The growth was 6.7 percentage points lower than that in 2010.
The output of aluminum electrolytic rose 11.2% year on year to 17.56 million metric tons last year, slowing from a 19.9% growth in 2010. There was a year-on-year increase of 14.2% in the output of copper, 12.5% increase in the output of lead, 3.8% increase in the output of zinc and 14.8% increase the output of alumina.
In the first 11 months of 2011, the nonferrous metal industry realized RMB 211.4 billion in profit, 52.8% more than in 2010.
The nonferrous metal mining and processing sector saw its profit surge 52.3% year on year to RMB 65.9 billion in the first 11 months, and the nonferrous metal smelting and pressing sector reaped RMB 145.5 billion in profit during the corresponding period, up 53.1% year on year.
