China's tyre output up 8.5% in 2011

Jan. 25, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China, the world's largest tyre producer, produced 832.1 million units of tyre last year, 8.5% more than in 2010, according to the latest statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics.

In December alone, the country's tyre output rose 9.8% year on year to 73.16 million units.

In 2011, the country saw its synthetic rubber output rose 13% year on year to 3.49 million units. Last month, China produced 320,000 metric tons of synthetic rubber, 9.6% more than in the same period of 2010.

China's natural rubber imports grew 13% year on year to 2.1 million metric tons last year, and the import value totaled US$9.38 billion, reflecting a surge of 65.5% year on year, due to a significant increase in natural rubber prices, China Knowledge reported earlier.
