Jan. 25, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China sold RMB 221.58 billion worth of lotteries in 2011, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 33.3% or RMB 55.33 billion, according to the statistics released by the country's Ministry of Finance
Last year, China Welfare Lottery's sales surged 32% or nearly RMB 31 billion from two years ago to RMB 127.8 billion, while China Sports Lottery's sales reached RMB 93.79 billion, 35% or RMB 24.34 billion more than 2010.
In December alone, China's lottery sales totaled RMB 22.48 billion, up 30.8% or RMB 5.29 billion year on year. Sales of China Welfare Lottery amounted to RMB 12.87 billion, 25.7% or RMB 2.63 billion more than in the same month of 2010, while those of China Sports Lottery grew 38.2% or RMB 2.66 billion from two years ago to RMB 9.61 billion, said the ministry.
In 2011, Jiangsu
Province topped China's 31 provinces or regions with net addition of lottery sales reaching RMB 9.4 billion, followed by Shandong
Province with RMB 6.13 billion, Guangdong
Province with RMB 4.68 billion, Zhejiang
Province with RMB 2.73 billion and Henan
Province with RMB 2.34 billion respectively.
