Jan. 20, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China's overseas direct investment (ODI) in the non-financial sectors climbed 1.8% year on year to US$60.07 billion last year, according to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Commerce
US$22.2 billion or 37% of the total overseas direct investment was completed through mergers and acquisitions.
As of the end of last year, Chinese investors had invested a total of US$322 billion in 178 foreign countries and nations in the world.
Last year, China's investment in Europe and Africa experienced a rapid growth. The country's investment in Europe surged 57.3% year on year to US$4.61 billion and that in Africa jumped 58.9% to US$1.70 billion.
Overseas direct investment in the E.U. surged 94.1% to US$4.28 billion.
