Audi expects 8% annual sale growth in China

Jan. 19, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Audi AG, a German subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, aims to have a sale growth of 8% annually over the next two years, said Zhang Xiaojun, Executive Deputy General Manager of the Audi sales division.

Audi sold 309,888 vehicles, consisting of 252,000 locally-made cars and 57,888 imported vehicles, in mainland China last year, reflecting an increase of 37.4% year on year, according to statistics from FAW Group Corp and Volkswagen.

Zhang added that Audi released a three-year goal in October 2010 to sell one million autos in China from 2011 to 2013, which will be met due to better-than-expected performance.

Audi intends to introduce seven new models, including new A6L, SUV Q3, hybrid-power vehicle Q5, to China this year. All of the Audi models are expected to be sold in China by 2015 with a total output capacity of 700,000 units.

The German luxury vehicle maker aims to have around 300 stores in China by the end of 2012.
