Jan. 13, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co Ltd, a joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Corp and Honda Motor Co, has issued a recall of 50,410 CR-Vs, a kind of Honda SUV, in China, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine or AQSIQ.

In a statement, the JV noted it has begun recalling the faulty CR-Vs, manufactured from September 5, 2011 to November 23, 2011, due to defected front headlights, in which the cables may overheat and cause burst in extreme circumstances.

This is the second time the JV recalled vehicles within two months. In December 2011, the JV started a recall of 2,270 sedans, named Civic, in China, produced between September 26, 2011 and November 17, 2011. Because some key screw nuts used for steering wheels may not be installed.

Last September, Honda's two major Chinese subsidiaries, Dongfeng Honda and Guangqi Hongda, which was established between Honda and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co Ltd<2238>, recalled a total of 255,800 vehicles, including Fit, City and CR-Vs.

Japan-based Honda saw its China sales down 4.5% year on year to 617,764 units in 2011, the first decline for the past 13 years. But the Japanese auto maker aims to sell 750,000 vehicles in China this year.
