Jan. 5, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, the world's second-largest telecom equipment maker, reaped more than US$6.7 billion in device sales last year, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 50%, said a person familiar with the matter.
The company's device sales for 2010 increased 30% from a year earlier to more than US$5.8 billion.
In 2011, the telecom equipment maker saw its device shipments exceed 150 million units, up 30% year on year, and the firm's smartphone sales reached over 20 million units.
Huawei Tech expects to become one of the top three handset makers worldwide by 2015.
Wan Biao, CEO of the company's device unit, said around 65% of handsets are sold through wholesales by telecom operators, while the remainder is sold via online retail sales, adding that more phones will be sold in retails in the near future.

, North America, Japan, Europe and Latin America. Last year, the firm also gave good performance on smartphone and tablet PC sales in Africa, Russia and India, sources reported.
