Guangdong's GDP to exceed RMB 5 trln in 2011

Jan. 3, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Guangdong Province in South China is expected to become the first province in China to achieve an annual gross domestic product of more than RMB 5 trillion in 2011, domestic media reported.

Jiangsu Province in East China and Shandong Province may see their GDP exceed RMB 4 trillion last year.

Liaoning Province in Northeast China and Sichuan Province in Southeast China expected their GDP to exceed RMB 2 trillion, taking the number of provinces with GDP of between RMB 2 trillion and RMB 4 trillion to five, including Zhejiang Province, Henan Province and Hebei Province.

A total of 22 provinces in China are estimate to each have GDP of at least RMB 1 trillion, five more than in 2010.
