Henan's foreign trade shows strong recovery
Mar. 19, 2010 (China Knowledge) - The import and export value of Henan Province in central China surged 10.5% year on year to US$2.13 billion in the first two months of this year, according to statistics released by Zhengzhou Customs.
The province exported US$857 million worth of goods during the period, up 26.7% from a year ago, while the import value fell 7.1% year on year to US$1.27 billion.
The strong growth was mainly attributable to the global economic recovery. However, the province's foreign trade figures still fell below the national average, partly because of the week-long Chinese New Year holiday.
China's import and export value rose 44.8% year on year to US$386.4 billion in the first two months, comprising US$204.1 billion in exports and US$182.3 billion in imports.
