Mar. 19, 2010 (China Knowledge) - The retail sales in Zhejiang Province in East China increased 18.3% year on year to RMB 164.21 billion in the first two months of this year, according to statistics released by Zhejiang Statistics Bureau.
The growth was 6.2 percentage points faster than in the same period of last year. After deducting the price factors, the retail sales was up 14.2% year on year, growing 1 percentage points faster than in the same period of 2009.
Retailers of designated size and above in the province saw retail sales of foods, beverage, tobacco and liquor rise 12% year on year and those of garments, shoes, hats and knitwear surge 30.3% from a year ago.
During the period, retail sales of jewelries, daily consumer goods, home appliances and telecom equipment rose 31%, 19.7%, 39.5% and 31.9% year on year, respectively.
In 2009, Zhejiang's retail sales grew 15.9% from the previous year to RMB 862.2 billion.
