Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) last week officially kicked off the construction of the second phase of a sports center in the
development area, which is expected to further improve the urban infrastructure in
Beijing E-Town.
The first phase of the sports center has been in use since 2011 with a floor area of 6,000 sq m in total, including a standard football field, track and field facilities and an outdoor basketball court. The first phase is mainly for the
development area's large sporting events and other major sports activities.
As one of the ten major projects of the local government, the second phase is a sport complex standing to the north of the already-built stadium. The second phase covers a land area of 17,000 sq m and is designed to have 46,000 sq m built area, including 14,000 sq m on the underground.
