BDA becomes national eco-industrial demonstration park

May. 6, 2011 (China Knowledge) - Beijing Economic-technological Development Area, or BDA, has obtained approval from China's Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Science and Technology to become the national eco-industrial demonstration park.

The three ministries said in a joint statement that BDA is the country's first comprehensive national eco-industrial demonstration park in Beijing. It marks a major step towards the sustainable development of BDA.

The national eco-industrial demonstration park is a newly designed park that was built in line with the conception of cyclic economy, industrial ecology and cleaner production.

In the process of eco-industrial civilization, BDA has continued to explore development pattern under the instruction of the Chinese government, market expansion and enterprise execution. It has achieved great success in fields such as environmental-oriented product design, lifecycle management, clean energy alternation and water saving projects with rainfall collection.

At present, BDA has formed a fairly complete eco-industrial system, and it realized a beneficial cycle between economic development and sustainable improvement in environment. According to the Standard for Sector-integrate Eco-industrial Parks, BDA is excellent in meeting the standard in areas such as comprehensive energy consumption per unit industrial added-value, fresh water consumption per unit industrial added-value, water reuse efficiency in industry and sulfur dioxide emission per unit industrial added-value.

BDA will continue its industrialization and stick to its development strategy in high content of science and technology, low consumption and high economic efficiency. It will strive to be the high-tech manufacturing and strategic new industry agglomeration in the southern area of Beijing.
