Dec. 31, 2010 (China Knowledge) - Two core mobile telecommunications projects broke ground on Dec. 27 in the "Mobile Silicon Valley" Industrial Park of the Beijing Economic-technological Development Area, or BDA, marking the industrial park stepping into a new development stage, sources reported.

According to the report, the Mobile Silicon Valley will be the third industrial park with output value over RMB 100 billion in the E-Town, where the BDA is located, after the digital TV industrial park and the Nokia Star Park industrial park.

The Mobile Silicon Valley, which started the infrastructure construction in Dec. 2009, currently has completed the industrial layout, and intends to in three to five years build a comprehensive mobile telecommunications industrial chain relying on the 3G-4G core chip-making technologies as well as the enterprise cluster. With the geological, policy and industrial advantages, the Mobile Silicon Valley is set to build as a high-end mobile telecommunications industrial park with annual sales revenue hitting RMB 100 billion.

Reportedly, to ensure construction of the industrial park, BDA has unveiled preferential policies and offered support to encourage technological innovation and attract talents. In addition, to enable the consistency of planning, design, development and management of the industrial park, BDA inaugurated an integrated organization for project development layout in the park.

BDA aims to make the Mobile Silicon Valley a mobile telecommunications industrial park combining high-end enterprises, talents, business space and fitting facilities to build the comprehensive contents and value-added service platforms and build large scale transaction platforms and distribution networks.

The Mobile Silicon Valley will focus on introducing core chip R&D and design enterprises, software and operating system solutions suppliers, telecommunications operators and multimedia application contents vendors.

The Mobile Silicon Valley is expected to further improve Beijing's competitive edges in the mobile telecommunications field.

With 18 years of development, BDA, the only one national economic and technology development zone in Beijing, has formed four major industries including electronics and information, biomedicine, equipment manufacture and automobile.
