Sep. 16, 2010 (China Knowledge) - The construction of SumiKa Huabei Electronic Materials (Beijing) Co, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Chemical Co Ltd, has been underway in the Beijing Digital Television Industry Park of Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, or BDA since Jul. 21.

As an important supporting project for the 8.5-generation TFT-LCD production line of BOE Technology Group Co Ltd<000725><200725>, SumiKa Huabei Electronic Materials (Beijing) will be mainly engaged in the production of upstream products for TFT-LCD panels such as polarizers.

As one of the major strategic partners of BOE Technology, SumiKa Huabei Electronic Materials (Beijing) is dedicated to providing integrated raw materials to the 8.5-generation TFT-LCD production line of BOE Technology Group Co Ltd<000725><200725>, and will gradually introduce other advanced chemical products and build two more plants to produce light guide panels and aluminum target.

The new plant is designed to have a land area of 50,000 square meters with a total cost of US$63 million. The plant is expected to be completed in April next year.

So far, the Beijing Digital Television Industry Park has attracted about 30 enterprises which plan to invest more than RMB 50 billion in the park.
