Jun. 27, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China's foreign debts totaled US$697.16 billion as of the end of March 2012, the
State Administration of Foreign Exchange said on Tuesday.
The figure, which excluded foreign debts of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macau SAR and Taiwan, was 8.1% more than the foreign debt at the end of 2011.
The country's registered foreign debt was US$480.16 billion, of which about 76.67% was denominated in U.S. dollar, 7.05% in Japanese yen and 8.23% in Euro.
At the end of March this year, long-term and medium-term foreign debt was US$193.56 billion, accounting for 25.76% of the country's total foreign debt.
Short-term debt, which accounted for 75.11% of the total, was US$557.70 billion at the end of March.
The country's international commercial loans were US$412.88 billion at the end of March, accounting for 85.99% of the total registered foreign debt.
