Taiwan's largest steel producer, announced today that it recorded a pre-tax profit of NT$2.91 billion in the second quarter of this year, after suffering a loss of NT$978 million in the first quarter.
No comment was given on the improved performance data. Industry analysts said that this may benefit from falling costs of raw materials.
In the second quarter, the company produced 2.24 million metric tons of carbon steel, 1.6% less than the 2.28 million metric tons in the corresponding period of last year.
In the second quarter of 2011, the company's pre-tax profit was NT$9.99 billion.
