Aug. 16, 2012 (China Knowledge) - BOE Technology Group Co Ltd<000725><200725>, the largest liquid crystal display manufacturer in China, has announced an agreement made with Hefei municipal government and Chaohu City Construction and Investment Co Ltd to set up a new 8.5th Generation TFT-LCD production line in Hefei, Anhui province.

With a total investment of RMB 28.5 billion, the new plant will start operation in the first quarter of 2014.

According to a statement filed with Shenzhen Stock Exchange, the production line will produce TFT-LCD panels with size of 55 inch and below. The designated capacity of the plant is 90,000 glass substrates per month.

The company said that the Hefei plant will enlarge the company's overall scale and further improve BOE's competitiveness.

In 2011, BOE Technology's 8.5th Generation TFT-LCD production line began production in Beijing E-Town, a triple-A rated industrial park, with capacity of 90,000 glass substrates per month.

It is expected that the 8.5th Generation TFT-LCD line in Beijing E-Town will produce over 10 million units of LCD panels by end of 2012 and to launch 65 inch and 110 inch Ultra HD LCD panels in the second half of this year.
