
Jul. 20, 2012 (China Knowledge) - China saw its box office revenues hit RMB 8.07 billion or almost USD 1.3 billion in the first half of this year, reflecting a YoY increase of 41.7%, according to figures released by the Chinese film authorities, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.
From January to June 2012, box office revenue from Chinese films exceeded RMB 2.81 billion, down 4.3% YoY, while that from foreign films was RMB 5.27 billion, up 90.4% YoY.
In the first half of this year, Painted Skin 2 was the best performer among Chinese films with box office revenue of RMB 215.99 million . The Great Magician and Mission Incredible: Adventures On The Dragon's Trail ranked second and third with box office of RMB 173,79 million and RMB 165.4 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, Titanic 3D rank first among foreign films list with box office revenue of RMB 934.03 million, followed by Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol with RMB 679.18 million and The Avengers at RMB 564.75 million.
