May. 10, 2012 (China Knowledge) - Daimler AG's luxury car unit Mercedes-Benz unit sold 15,860 vehicles in
China in April this year, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 8%, said Mercedes-Benz in a statement.
In the first four months of this year, the company delivered a record 70,580 units of Mercedes-Benz, Smart, AMG and Maybach in
China, 15% more than in the same period of last year.
Last month, the sales of Smart model were 1,434 units, taking the total sales in the first four months to 6,190 units, reflecting a robust growth of 85% of year on year.
Klaus Maier, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz China Ltd, said that the sales in the first four month indicated that the auto maker is moving towards its double-digit growth target for this year.
In 2011, Mercedes-Benz unit sold a record 198,520 vehicles in
China, 35% more than in the previous year, according to an earlier report from China Knowledge.
